Election Day Blog #2

Hi Epiphany,
I am on line at my local polling place. I’ve been here for about an hour and it is almost my turn. Anyway I just wanted to make y’all laugh for a second.

There are a lot of people out here with their kids today. The two little girls near me are playing and having fun. A second ago one of them noticed a roach crawling by and she said “ooh a roach. It’s probably on the way to Keisha’s house”!

Now I don’t know who Keisha is but they certainly put her on BLAST!!!! It’s almost my turn, but I hope that little story made you laugh. Barack the Vote!

  1. LMAO! That made my day. My nephew just informed me he voted yesterday at school. We asked him who he voted for and he said “pizza!” I wish our choices were that easy as adults. What it means to be 5!

  2. I was at my polling place at 5:30 am this morning. The polls in NJ opened at 6:00 am. There were about 50 people in front of me.

At 6:45 am there was an obvious problem by the way the poll workers were acting. Then one of them said she was going to the street to make sure “they” knew where to come. I asked what was going on. Her response was that the two polling machines were stuck in the down position. There was a collective moan in the lobby. Five minutes later, two huge men came rushing through the door. They were from Election Board Headquarters. With one big yank they pulled them both open and a cheer went up from the crowd.

The polls opened at exactly 6:00 am and I cast my vote at exactly 6:30 am. When I left the lobby to go outside there were at least 150 people in line and more were coming. People were prepared with chairs, blankets, coffee mugs, newspapers, IPODS, conversations and some had a prayer circle going. The scene truly tugged at my heart. Never in my life have I seen so many people in line to vote so early in the morning and I’ve been voting quite a few years now.

I’m leaving work now to go buy food for the people at headquarters. I got a call saying many of them have already pulled an all nighter and this night won’t be any different for them…except tonight will be the beginning of a NEW DAWN!!!!

    Barack the VOTE!
