Spare Me The Tea Party Crap!

A few days ago I started seeing posters around Atlanta about Tea Party’s on tax day.  Now I love my Teavana fix whenever I can get it, so I was a little intrigued.  I did some checking and found out there would be protests around the country against the government’s “reckless” use of taxpayer money.  Supposedly President Obama is taking all our hard earned money and running up a huge deficit.  Um…excuse me but why weren’t there any raised pinky tea parties for the past eight tax days?  I’m just saying, is it me or didn’t we have a surplus when Clinton was in office?  Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the deficit begin to climb when “W” got elected?  Having said that, shouldn’t there have been a tea party every year since like 2001?

The Republicans and Conservatives, and all around Obama-Haters are once again grasping at straws.  Unfortunately there are too many crazy uninformed people out there jumping on the bandwagon.  If this were truly about taxes only, this would have been an annual event since forever!  Taxes didn’t just begin in 2009.  Further, majority of the people out there protesting are benefiting from the Obama tax cuts, so they need to get a grip! While I’d love to do away with FICA and taxes in general, it’s just not a reality.  I’d also like to do away with rush hour traffic and over-priced cable, but again it’s just not a reality.

People complain that the rich pay too much in taxes.  Most of the people making this argument are poor or middle class. While the idea of people getting a free pass on their mortgages while I pay mine on time every month kinda burns me up….seventeen foreclosed houses on my block won’t help me sell my house either so let the government do whatever it takes to turn this housing market around so I can move! Blame the banks for giving mortgages to people with bootleg paystubs and bad credit.  The government didn’t get us into this mess, but they are trying to turn it around.

I had to laugh at the coverage of some of these events.  People actually held signs and made speeches about irresponsible government spending.  Where were they when Bush and Cheney were pumping all our tax dollars into Iraq?  Someone said President Obama has done more damage in 100 days that anyone else has done in the last 100 years.  Again, where were these people when George Bush was running up the deficit that President Obama inherited?

In the spirit of keeping it real, I’d like to know where you stand on the subject of taxes?  No one likes them I’m sure, but is anyone out there on board for this tea party crap?  Am I the only one that thinks this is just another attempt to throw salt on President Obama?

  1. I like how you think Jerzee. Taxes didn’t begin with the Obama administration. Deficits and deficit spending DEFINITELY didn’t begin with the Obama administration yet here we are on the first tax day of his Presidency and we have these protests. These tea party people are dangerous misinformed nut jobs! One of my co-workers was bragging about why she was participating. Going on about how the governement is raising her taxes and wasting her money. Mind you she’s a secretary with three kids, one of her kids is in college, and she is trying to buy a house in the next few weeks. SHe makes less that 50K, so she is benefitting more from the Obama tax plan she’s protesting than I am!

  2. I just sit back and laugh. People just need something to complain about. I don’t remember us ever seeing the tax returns of W posted on the web like they did President Obama. I am just sitting back waiting for these folks to have egg on their faces. Why we blaming President Obama? Look at some of these Governors wasting money on the state level…Sonny Perdue!!

  3. Let me just say this. These and excuse me for using this word, but these crackers are constantly looking for a reason to discredit President Obama. They still haven’t and can’t wrap their head around the fact that the world is changing, and a Black Man is leading the way. Now, when I say crackers I’m not talking about white people. There is a huge difference between the two. There are some black ones too. What president Obama has done in his first 100 days, is more good than W did in eight years. The housing market is showing improvement, the stock markets are improving, you can see a glimps that the stimulus package is working, and there are countless other things that he’s done, but none negative. It is the sad but honest truth that evern if president Obama cured the world of Aids, they still will try to find something to bring him down. It’s been happening for the past 400 years and it still goes on. Like him or not, he is your President, and he is and has begun to turn this country, and the way the world looks at this country around. So get over it, and go find something to do with your life. Period. Peace

  4. What gets me is that the people who thought up these parties probably don’t even realize what the original Boston Tea party was about. It does not even translate to what’s going on today!!

  5. TEA PARTIES! You gotta be kidding me..where in de hell have these fools been for the last…all my life??? You hit the nail on the head with this one. I’ve been talking about tax evasion, boycotting, or some other kinda tax revolution for years. Long before I ever had the pleasure of knowing the name Barack Obama. Have these people never looked at their pay stubs, it’s a travesty but it’s something that happened long before our President took office. I just hope none of these tea parties were held in New Jersey, cause as you know, Jerzee, our sole reason for working in this state is to pay taxes. With the most horrendous ones being state and municipally imposed. But I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir on this one since that’s the reason the majority of you ex-Jerseyans don’t live here any more. TAXES, PLEASE they ain’t seen taxes!

  6. I think the idea of the “tea party” was just for people to get together and meet others, because having the event was ridiculous. If anyone remembers their history, the point of the Boston Tea Party was a protest by Bostonians against the British government and the heavy taxation placed on, yes you guessed it, tea. I wish people would actually take their heads out of their a**es and listen to what is actually occurring within the government. Listen to how President Obama is dealing with the messed up, left over economy from what’s his name. Listen to how he is trying to deal with the pirates that are killing people in attempts to gain goods. Listen to how this Black man is trying to bring peace to the world. Lastly, listen to how he is trying to raise his daughters to be ladies, remain a father figure, and treat his wife the best way that a man should treat his woman. So, in other words get off your freakin’ horses and figure out the issues for yourself instead of listening to the Right Wing conservatives that don’t know sh*t!!!

(Sorry for the cussing, but this just irritates the hell out of me.)
